What's the Difference between a Registered dietitian and a nutritionist?

A registered dietitian is a licensed professional with expertise in nutrition that has to complete additional coursework, 1200 hours of supervised training and pass a national exam. A nutritionist is not a legally protected term, so ANYONE can call themselves a nutritionist. If you are seeking health related advice related to diet, exercise and disease prevention or management, make sure you get it from a reputable source like a registered dietitian.

Where are counseling sessions conducted?

Currently all session are provided virtually. You can get on any where you have internet connection with audio and video. A smart phone or laptop with a camera works great. Sessions should be done in a private space.

Do you have virtual visits for people who live in different states?

The services offered are based in Texas, and we can see any Texas resident virtually. Since licensing regulations vary by state and can change, we can provide out of state services on a case by case basis. If you fill out the contact form, we can double check if services can be provided to you at your location.

What happens during counseling sessions?

During an initial session, we typically start with a lot of questions to learn more about your history, current situation and future goals. Then we will decide on a plan how often we need to meet and what we can work together to accomplish. Any and all responses questions are voluntary and optional and will be received in a non-judgemental way. (We are not the food police!) At follow up sessions, we will check in on our set goals, challenges and additional resources needed to meet them.

How long do we need to keep having sessions?

It totally depends! Some people only need a few sessions to kick start their goals. If you are struggling with an eating  disorder, you may need to continue for a longer period of time to secure your recovery from relapse. If you have started and stopped making a change many times (yo-yo dieting or paying for a gym membership that goes unused for example), we highly recommend starting with weekly sessions and transitioning slowly to bi-weekly, then monthly, then as needed to have that extra support to finally meet your goals.

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens! If your schedule changes and you are unable to make your scheduled session, please notify us by e-mail so we can reschedule you. If you do not cancel or reschedule your appointment with at least 24 hours notice, we may charge a $75 “no-show” service fee to your account. This “no-show charge” is not reimbursable by your insurance company. You will be billed directly for it. We will not likely charge this fee the first time as unexpected events are a part of life. However, after three consecutive no-shows to your sessions, we may decide to terminate our relationship with you.
